Hormone Sensitivity

The degree to which a cell's receptors respond to the presence of a specific hormone, such as insulin, leptin, or adiponectin. High hormone sensitivity means that only a small amount of the hormone is needed to elicit the desired physiological response, whereas low sensitivity (or resistance) requires much higher levels of the hormone, often leading to systemic imbalances and metabolic dysfunction.

In the context of weight management, sensitivity to insulin and GLP-1 is paramount, as these hormones regulate blood sugar, fat storage, and appetite. Factors that decrease hormone sensitivity include chronic inflammation, high-sugar diets, and the presence of environmental toxins that block receptor sites. Improving sensitivity is a primary objective of metabolic health programs, often achieved through dietary changes, cellular cleansing, and the use of specific supplements. When hormone sensitivity is restored, the body can more effectively regulate its weight and energy levels.
